Bankruptcy protection puts creditors on hold.  Bankruptcy puts creditors
in line for any assets.

I suspect a white knight will come along.  Polaroid is too valuable a
name to let go of, but it could be a very different company when this is
over.

I hate adding fuel to the paranoia, because it becomes a self-fulfilling
prophecy, but if Polaroid was to go bankrupt those $200 rebate coupons
could be worthless, since you would end up at the end of a very long
line of creditors.
