filmscanners: Full Frame with the LS-2000 (the whole frame)?

An update on my original message. It appears that my camera must expose the
film more than 24mm by 36 mm. On an image I just scanned without cropping
with the modified FH-2, it turns out to be 2592 by 3894 pixels so at 2700
that works out to be 24.4 mm by 36.6 mm. instead of 23.9 by 37 I had guessed
at earlier.

Yes, I filed the black plastic on one frame of my FH-2 strip film holder. I
have to carefully position the negative in the holder to be able to see the
"gutters" on both ends. The scan does get part of each gutter, but not both
sides of the negative (it does get VERY close). Sometimes it takes a couple
of trys to get the carrier positioned just right. I didn't have to file any
of the metal, just the plastic. I can visually see both sides of the
negative so it must be a limitation of the scanner. So, it does help.
Probably about 37 mm by 23.9 mm. So far it has done everything I need it to.
Sometimes I position the negative up or down and sacrifice one side of the
image or the other. So far (knock on wood) I haven't needed 100% of both
sides. I guess I could scan twice and paste...

Greetings...

Is there a way to get a full frame 35mm scan (with black borders) using the
Nikon LS-2000? Has anyone experimented with filing out the neg carrier, as
one would a neg carrier on a standard darkroom enlarger?

Any help is appreciated.
