filmscanners: Re: Vuescan

Bob S. wrote, on 20 March 2001:

correspondence he wrote a few days ago "I'm not on this [filmscanner]
mailing list any more - too many off-topic postings."

I'm glad that today (Mar 21) some other members are seeing the irony of this
situation. I haven't felt I should comment since I was an object of one of
Ed's rare "rants" on "off-topicisms" (perhaps deservedly so, but in my
defense I'd like to add that my "funny comment" was actually intended to
calm things down and steer the discussions back toward filmscanning).

I could say more on that, but I'm only going to mention this: One
member--who I gently corrected, off-list, about a program that so many of us
use--informed me (again, off-list) that he'd dropped out of Filmscanners
because there were too many "off-topic" discussions about Vuescan!!

So there you have it. "Different strokes for different folks," I guess.
That's probably why they make shoes in so many sizes.
I do hope Ed will come back, though...it's the major thing that gave me
confidence in his product, when there are so many out there without that
personal (albeit motivated) concern.

Best regards--LRA
