Ed,
        don't you ever sleep. You were on-line when it was 9:30am. in
Scotland.

        Regarding that re-calibrate function for the CanoScan FS2700.

        It is not totally evident that the calibration cycle has been
completed. Any chance of a screen message to tell the user to insert
the media or something to that effect. No great rush.
