Junior Latent Print Technician

Purpose
Under immediate supervision, performs specific, well-defined activities requiring professional or scientific training that are designed to prepare incumbent for forensic science duties. Technicians will recognize and aid in recovery of Latent Prints on evidence.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage and direct the timely processing of multiple cases for latent prints at the same time.
- Author, review, and provide quality control of case notes. Prepare all required documentation for case records.
- Receives, inventories and stores evidence according to quality assurance guidelines, to include chain-of-custody documentation as necessary.
- Recognize developed latent prints during each processing method and ensure their proper preservation using appropriate methods as defined by the government.
- Prepare and maintain all chemicals necessary for processing of evidence, including following government SOPs for making and testing all chemical reagents.
- Stage and maintain equipment as necessary to keep the processing line performing efficiently.
- Use the FBI's Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) Latent Print Workstation (LPW) or Universal Latent Workstation (ULW) to enhance and/or upload ink/latent prints. Use the current database network for evidence inventory, tracking, and flow.
Job Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent experience (two years work experience equivalent to one year post-secondary education). Must successfully complete and pass established training requirements and competency test within the time period as set forth by the supported program. Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
