Latent Print Examiner
To serve as a Forensic Examiner to perform all types of latent print examinations; stay abreast of the latest research to determine the best analytical methods to examine evidence; conduct examinations of highly complex and unique evidence; and compose a variety of reports. Initiate, perform and oversee examinations of a wide-variety of materials using one or more specialized forensic science disciplines.

Essential Job Duties
- Provide forensic analysis of evidence in cases involving multiple submissions where inter-comparison of evidence is necessary. Coordinate with outside government agencies as necessary to facilitate forensic examinations in complex cases. Participate in liaison and meetings with officials from outside agencies to coordinate cases of mutual interest.
- Initiate and perform the full range of analytic procedures in a forensic laboratory and field laboratory or similar settings. Procedures include examinations to identify and characterize complex evidence and provide findings in a clear and concise manner. Examination process includes the preparation of sample/s, selecting and entering instrument settings, performing scientific analyses, and tabulating results. Coordinate as necessary with outside laboratories and/or other agencies and industry.
- Utilize and modify as necessary a variety of highly complex scientific equipment and procedures in order to obtain detailed and sometimes obscure characteristics of a wide-variety of unique evidentiary materials. Interpret findings to allow non-scientific end users to incorporate scientific findings into operations, research, and additional analysis.
- Prepare and furnish authoritative oral and written reports to facilitate investigative, intelligence, prosecution and other functions that support mission requirements. The reports will require the ability to clearly convey the opinions and findings as determined through detailed examinations and analysis.
- Provide authoritative support to the client and other components within a multi-agency activity. Capable of describing detailed findings to forensic and other scientists. Provide training and mentorship regarding the analytical process and related functions to other contractors and the client to ensure a highly trained staff consistent with the needs of the mission.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in from an accredited university/college with 24 credit hours in physical or life sciences and more than 10 years of job related experience. Proof of FBI competency training can be substituted for the education requirement. Must possess knowledge of and ten years of experience using physical, chemical and light source methods of latent print examination, collection and preservation. Must have extensive experience applying the principles, theories, and methods of fingerprint science in order to analyze complex material; conduct scientific research and adapt technical procedures. Experience in oral and written communication sufficient to present results of analyses to peers and adjudicating entities required. Experience using electronic search and enhancement systems required. Must have experience in the use of Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS) for searching unidentified latent fingerprints, to include IAFIS and the Universal Latent Workstation (ULW) application. Preference given to FBI Laboratory Division competency training as a latent print examiner, in lieu of, possess current International Association for identification (IAI) Latent Print certification. Must successfully complete and pass established training requirements and competency test within the time period as set forth by the supported program. Knowledge of legal procedures and rules of evidence to handle evidence appropriately and provide effective testimony required. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance.
