- All persons certified by the Bloodstain Certification Board must renew their certification every five (5) years in order to maintain their certification status. The fee for recertification is $200.00 for IAI members and $300.00 for non-members.
- A total of forty hours of continuing education as a participant or instructor is required for recertification over the five year certification period. However, only twenty (20) of these hours can be as an instructor; the remaining twenty (20) hours must be as a participant in a recognized school, training seminar, educational conference, or workshop pertaining to the field of bloodstain pattern examination.
- Two copies of these certificates or programs indicating the applicant as an instructor must accompany the recertification form.
- Certificates showing attendance or participation in schools, training seminars, educational conferences, or workshops recognized by the Bloodstain Pattern Examiner Certification Board will be considered proof of continuing hours of education.
- A letter of verification from the applicant’s supervisor or a person of equal level of certification as the applicant must accompany the recertification form, verifying the applicants continued involvement and competency in the field of bloodstain pattern examination.
An Application for renewal is mailed two months prior to the expiration date of certification. Failure to apply for renewal within sixty days following expiration of certification places the member in a delinquent status. Failure to resolve the delinquent status within one year from the renewal date will result in revocation of certification.
