I always felt that DSLRs, even my lowly 10D, had more accurate, neutral
color than even the Kodachrome 25 I used to shoot, much more neutral than
the E6 films. When you think about it, a simple color filter into three
photon counters (which is what a silicon sensor is, effectively) is a lot
simpler, from an information processing point of view, than a pair of
reversing chemical processes, both of which have non-linearities and
interactions.
