[filmscanners] HP Scanjet 4890 flatbed

Does anyone out there know anything about the HP Scanjet 4890 flatbed
scanner? It claims to have "up to 4800dpi" optical resolution, but I
have my doubts that it's real (partly because of the "up to", and partly
because it's from HP). My brother bought one of these for a really
excellent price, and we're trying to figure out what it's really capable
of doing. It does come with a transparency adapter and will most likely
be fine for his limited needs to scan the occasional slides and negatives.

Thanks in advance,

Cliff
