All depends upon how many 'lots' are and how fussy you are willing to be and
what the end goal is: digital archiving for catalogue purposes, or keeping
high resolution (up to 2700 dpi for the LS-2000) scans on file for digital
printing afterwards.

If they're Kodachrome or B&W, then you can't really take advantage of the
ICE-descratching functions of the Nikon software and will have to use a
variety of different techniques to descratch them in Photoshop.

If they are Fujichrome/Ektachrome then the Nikon software or VueScan may be
able to make good headway with their de-scratching algorithms at various
settings.

Given a large volume, might be more cost-effective (depending upon how you
value your time) to get a newer Nikon Coolscan and use their descratching
software and the more sensitive scanning equipment to let the software do the
bulk of the fixing.
