Did you stop taking photos or did you choose lower resolution and lower
dynamic range photography with ugly grain blob over film photography ;-) ?
Sorry for sounding coarse. I know pros and cons of both mediums but I'm vary
angry that I am forced to work with a tiny viewfinder slow AF digital SLR
instead of with negs and my F5 only because now, as people know there's an
"instant" medium, they arrange photosessions at the very last moment,
resulting in no time for processing.
Sure it's much more convenient for me to use digital but the it is the
pictures which suffer. Digital grain is ugly, film grain is beautiful, film
doesn't have problems with very wide dynamic range of stage lighting,
digital sees only a narrow part of the lightness range.
I'm also sour because I bought an A3+ printer recently and by printing some
of my files I once again confirmed that 6 or even 8 megapixel cameras are
simply not up to the task at this size. Pictures look amateurish to my
standards. And there's this schizophrenia of the Internet forums: everybody
raves about the sizes they get from current 6mp DSLRs, not to mention
absolutely excellent prints from 8megapixel digicams.
I must have too good vision, I suppose, because even at A4 I can see the
difference.

My D100, which is an excellent camera for it's class, served me already for
almost 40 000 pictures during the last 18 months but I'm not blinded by
digital and don't say it's excellent. It's only so good. I use negs and
slides for all my personal work.

Sorry for the vent. It's nothing personal Jawed, I just needed to say what I
feel to all those who "switch" and "never look back".

Tomek
