Interesting question, but one difficult to answer with anything else
than 'It depends' ;)

My anecdotal evidence seems to indicate that it depends a lot on the
equipent involved.
The Sony F520 monitor that I use at home seems not to be influenced much
by anything
compared to the el-cheapo one I use at work that flutters when my
cell-phone goes off
a meter from it. OTOH I have an external Maxtor (USB/Firewire) harddisk
that seem to
interfer with just about all my equipment (except the Sony monitor). I
can't use it to anything
else than backup after which I have to turn it off.

I think you basically have to experiment with the equipment you intend
to use.
