[filmscanners] Re: PS Elements etc

Okay, I'm about to but the Epson 2200. Also thinking about the Minolta
5400, which comes with Elements. I am still using the PS 5.0 LE that came
with previous hardware. I remember hearing that Elements will only open
8-bit files, and not 16-bit files.

1. I usually convert the Scan Dual II image to 8-bit only after I bring the
image into PS 5.0 LE. I guess I can make the necessary adjustments to
16-bit files within the Minolta software. But I have to import it to PS to
print it, so I don't get to make a test print to see if the adjustments
worked right before I have to save them to 8-bit when I'm in the Minolta
software. Do I understand all this correctly?

2. What advantages does Elements offer vs 5.0 LE?

3. Assuming I have very sharp negatives, will this set of upgrades be worth
it ($1500)?
