[filmscanners] Re: Which Film Scanner for B&W negatives?

Hi Marco,

Buying any used digital equipment is always a risky business. But, sometimes
ones gets lucky and a real bargain is to be had.

If you would like to buy a used Polaroid SS4000+ you can always advertise
for it on the filmscanners list and see what happens. I would want to pay
less than $500 US dollars for one. If possible, do not buy sights unseen.
Ask for a demo before buying.

Or better yet, aks on the same list if someone would scan your b&w films on
a Polaroid SS4000+ for a price. You'll be able to judge for yourself the
quality of the scans.

And if you are really serious about film scanning, consider a new Minolta
5400.

I noticed from your email address that you are from the UK. So here's some
resellers's address you can contact for info. before making any decisions.
They may not all sells film scanners but may be a good place to get
information.

Good luck,
Andre

Hi Andre

Thanks very much for your ideas re B & W film scanning.

Is it possible to buy the Polaroid ss4000+ second hand or is that a bad
idea?

Thanks again

Marco
