Yes, I see what you mean. I looked at the red info all over the yellow
flower and the color values are between 239 and 255. I posted the red
histogram here along with a snippet from the red channel:

There is still some detail in the red but there are a lot of pixels at the
255. I will try rescanning with less exposure and using a curve.

blown out area. That's more likely the problem. I suggest backing off on the
exposure in the scanner, and then using Curves rather than Levels to get the
brightness back.
