What's overkill is 16-bit A/D converters. I'll bet the bottom six bits are
noise anyway. I have an LS-2000, and it's 12-bit converters still have
enough resolution to reproduce the CCD noise, and I doubt this one is much
better, especially with pixel sensors with a quarter the area.
