[filmscanners] Re: keeping the 16bit scans



Thankyou all for your replies!

I hadn't thought about the need for a crop, so that's one good reason to
keep 16bit files. And with J2K space is less of an issue. I wish DVD had
sorted out its act but right now, that's not an option. CDs are too much
hassle. Two mirrored removable external drives will be my next step, but
I want to wait as long as possible.  I think, from what I'm hearing,
that I will play it safe and keep the big guys for now. I'm sure in most
cases, the differences will not be noticeable, but 16bit just *feels*
better. :-)
