The fnord JP2 saves the colour profile - indeed it informs
you if there isnt one associated with the file.

The PNG stuff appears not to .. one of the things I really
hate about these applications is their lack of real info
on what is in a file. Any pointers to tools ...

I actually scan mostly B&W - colour I tend to always put
into a default sRGB profile. B&W at high bit is essential
for working on - and PNG records this.
