Alex,

I just found out about a cool program that you install on your web
server, and then you can design your gallery from a browser without
knowing any html. Your server must be running UNIX, and the program is free.

The program can be found at <http://gallery.sourceforge.net/>, and an
example can be found at <http://www.reyman.us/gallery/>.

Looks like it might solve your problems for free.
