[filmscanners] Re: OT: leben list

I don't have nearly the experience or knowledge of the inner workings of
scanners that many of the other contributors on this list. Limited depth of
field in the lens within the Nikon scanners has been reported and a good
discussion can be found at:

http://members.austarmetro.com.au/~julian/photography/ls2000-focus.htm

People on this list intensely debate this from time to time, comparing the
Nikon scanner with others with regards to sharpness. Myself, I compare my
results with what I would get from a professional lab producing a
conventional print. I find vast improvements with the scanned image over the
photo processed one (it is a rare enlarger that is properly aligned so that
you have a sharp image edge to edge and corner to corner) so I'm happy with
my scanner (Nikon 4000).

I am researching the purchase of a new scanner. I am considering the Nikon
IV and others. Does anyone have any experience with the Nikon? I am told it
has a focusing problem with currved negatives.

Where is the Digital B&W, The Print site?

You're right, I missed that. I've been reading the archives over at Digital
B&W, The Print. Hours later, I've finally checked my Inbox. Thanks for
noticing (not that we can fix it).

Sorry if you find this a bit off topic, but as I've some of your names on
overthere, I want to ask if I am the only one not receiving anything from
the Leben scan (and Epson) lists since Wednesday (June 19)?
