[filmscanners] kodak rfs 3600

I recently purchased the kodak rfs 3600 to scan several rolls of black and
white negatives. Even though the scanner has a setting for B&W negative it
scans in RGB - not grayscale. This takes up 3 times the scan time and an
increase of 3 times the file size. All this is unnecessary. Is there anything
I can do to the scanner that will permit me to scan in grayscale mode? Does the
Nikon 4000 scan b&w neg in grayscale mode?
