I have two HP 4020i CDR drives, and they were NOT well built, but they were
very expensive.  I believe there was even a lawsuit about these
drives...specifically because of the lack of build/material quality.  They
were probably the most popular/prolific of the early CDR drives.  They also
did not last.  Most people found they would not record reliably after about
two years!
