I ended up with a Samsung 170T as I got a pretty good deal on it. It's been
around for a year or so, and there's a selection of newer and possibly
better designs on the market right now, none of which I'd had a chance to
evaluate.

If you decide on an LCD monitor, I'd like to suggest that you get a video
card with DVI output (I'm using a Matrox G550) and digital capable LCD
screen. With digital you'll typically see a sharper image with better,
brighter colours.
