I guess if the preview is done at a different resolution to the scan then their 
histograms are likely to differ.  However, it doesn't take long to rescan from 
memory if the file isn't saved until the user is satified with the B/W point 
settings.  Of course, this would mean (the option) of separating the scan from 
the file save function.  

And, how can you know where to set the B/W points if you don't use a histogram 
;)
