You are correct.  It has been reported by Ed Hamrick, the author of
Viewscan, who did EXTENSIVE testing of this bending issue, that the problem
IS the use of all three sensors at the same time, and the fact that the
scanner only uses one calibration set for all three sensors, when it should
use three.  If you use only one sensor line, the banding disappears.
