Re: filmscanners: Sprintscan 4000 Rebate extension

Hello Art et al,
The SS 4000 can be had for under $1,500 here in Ottawa. I purchased mine
last December for $1,900.00
I am just returning mine for service after scanning about 1,000 slides and
300 negatives. The unit developed a strange indexing problem and won't scan
position 3 nor 4 if I start scanning with number 1 and sequentially move to
4. At 3 or 4 the scanner ejects the carrier and then tries to draw it back
in.??? I have spoken to Polaroid's Canadian service department and after
downloading the Version 1.4 firmware and Polacolor Version 5 software plus
cleaning the sensor with their carrier upgrade; a cute little brush; no
change. Back to the factory for repairs.
Prior to this the unit worked flawlessly out of the box for 10 months.
Caveat; I have checked with Ed Hamrick and he hasn't changed any code but
this behaviour started (coincidentally?) when I downloaded Vuescan 7.1.13;
14 and now 7.1.15. I figure it's the scanner and not the software as was
indicated to me by Ed, who was the person that informed me of the upgrade
brush.
Hope this helps,
Owen
