I purchased my 4000t about 18 months ago. After about 6 months it 
started to make a grinding noise and finally  refused to accept a 
slide or negative. It was returned; the invoice stated"replacement of 
motherboard " and it has worked better (and faster)-touch wood- than 
when new since its repair. SEND IT BACK ASAP.
