filmscanners: Is my Polaroid SprintScan 4000 faulty?

A plea for help...

I have encountered a strange problem with my new
Polaroid SprintScan 4000 35mm film scanner which
I am inclined to attribute to faulty hardware.

As there many subscribers to this list who own
the SprintScan 4000 and use it to great effect,
I wonder if you would mind taking a look at the
images I've posted on this web page...

<http://users.bigpond.com/robert.groom/ss4000/>

and then letting me know whether your conclusion
is the same as mine. Of course, if you know how
to solve the problem, that's even better! :-)

thanks and regards,
