I didn´t tried this configuration, but I had a SCSI scanner (Kodak RFS
3600) connected to my G4 using my Orange Micro Grappler+ card. This card
adds SCSI and serial (2) ports to your Mac. The connection was fast and
stable.

I use this card every day and I can tell both ports (SCSI and serial) are
working flawlessly.
