I suspect I meant "both are lossless". Darn similar
looking/sounding words.

On an additional note to this, I use Linux/ ImageMagick
to do the conversiotn from TIF (captured) to PNG 
and JPG of various sizes via command line with a 
little Perl. Nice and ready to burn onto CD.
